Tibet Overland Budget Tour

Day 1: KATHMANDU-NYLAM
Drive Kathmandu to Kodari border. Meet Tibet guide & continue to Nylam. O/N Nylam Guest House.

Day 2: NYLAM- DINGRI/LHATSE (4350 m)
Drive Nylam to Dingri/Lhatse across Thong la Pass. En route visit Milarepa Cave, Tibet's greatest yogi.

Day 3: DINGRI/LHATSE-SHIGATSE-(3860 M)
Drive to Shigatse  across Tsoula pass (4500 M) & Gyatso la pass (5220 M). Visit  Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of Panchen Lama who is the 2nd in the Tibetan Buddhist hierarchy & Shigatse open market. Check into hotel.             

Day 4: SHIGATSE-GYANGTSE (3990 M), 90 KMS
Drive to Gyangtse. Visit Kubum stupa & Pelkor choede Monastery.

Day 5: GYANGTSE-LHASA (3990 M), 350 KMS
Drive via Yamdrok, the Turquoise Lake to Lhasa across Karo la (5045 m) & Kampa la  pass (5050 m) to Lhasa, the capital city. Check into Mandala/Flora Hotel.

Day 6:  LHASA
Guided sightseeing tour of Potala, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama; Drepung,  the biggest monastic university of Tibet & Nechung Monastery, temple of the  State oracle of Tibet.

Day 7: LHASA
Guided sightseeing tour of Jokhang, the central cathedral of Tibet, Barkhor, the bustling Lhasa  market encircling the Jokhang Temple, Tibetan Medical Center &  Norbulinka Palace.

Day 8: LHASA-KATHMANDU/CHENGU
Transfer to airport to connect flight to KATHMANDU/CHENGDU or to train station for onward journey by Tibet Railways to Chengdu/Beijing/Shanghai/Xining.
